Our SPLOT Dollars at Work

Writer's picture: Jimmy FurstJimmy Furst

Crews are currently installing a sidewalk on Dresden Drive. Once done, it will complete the sidewalk from Chamblee Tucker Road to Clairmont Road in Chamblee.

Not only will it complete the sidewalk in Chamblee, it will complete the sidewalk on the entirety of Dresden Roa from Chamblee Tucker to Peachtree Rd.

This project represents the first of many transportation-related projects Chamblee is undertaking in the next five years using our SPLOT funds and our commitment to making the city more walkable for all residents.

What is SPLOST?

The SPLOST tax, enacted by the General Assembly in 1985, is a county tax for funding capital projects. It's neither a municipal nor joint county-municipal tax like the regular Local Option Sales Tax (LOST). As a county tax, a SPLOST can only be initiated by the county governing authority. This means that, as community members, we have a direct role in shaping our local infrastructure through the SPLOST tax.
